The 1949 Eureka Sportstamps set is one of the most beautiful issues of its era. Featuring 200 players (twenty-five players from each of the eight National League teams), it is also one of the most ambitious and comprehensive sets produced during the period. Presented is a complete 200-stamp set of 1949 Eureka Sportstamps, completely intact in its original album (as issued). This set includes sixteen Hall of Famers, highlighted by Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, and Stan Musial. All 200 stamps (five sheets of forty stamps each) have been beautifully preserved in their original album and present with vibrant colors. Three of the stamp sheets have neatly detached from the binding staples in the center. The album displays virtually no wear on the front cover and moderate creasing on the back cover (of no consequence and mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy); the interior pages are Near Mint. Also included is an extremely rare 1949 Eureka Sportstamps advertising sheet (8.5 x 11 inches), which features images of the album and the stamps. This sheet displays natural fold lines and light creasing around the perimeter. The set is also accompanied by a partial set consisting of 102 stamps presented on seven panels; 25-stamp panel (#1-25), two-stamp panel (#26-27), 24-stamp panel (#52-75), five-stamp panel (#76-80), 20-stamp panel (#81-100), 20-stamp panel (#101-120), and six-stamp panel (#121-126). The 1949 Eureka Sportstamps have long been overlooked by collectors and because of grading are now just beginning to receive the attention that they deserve. This is a spectacular complete set of all 200 stamps, presented as issued (and beautifully preserved!) in an original Eureka Sportstamps collectors album, along with a very rare advertising companion piece. Total: 200 stamps in one album, 102 extra stamps, and one advertising sheet. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
