Near-complete set of ninety-six different (plus one duplicate) 1929 R316 Kashin Publication cards, including thirty-two Hall of Famers, highlighted by two examples of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Missing only five cards - Alexander, Hadley, Haines, Seibold, and Todt - for completion. The entire 96-card near-set offered here has been pasted into an album. One of the duplicate Ruth cards has been glued to the cover for display purposes. These cards have been in this album since they were glued in with great care, very likely in the year of issue! The popular R316 large-style card (3.5 x 4.5 inches) set consists of 101 different Major Leaguers. The cards look great in the album and technically range in condition from Poor to Excellent (averaging Vg) without any consideration given to the fact they are pasted in an album. One Babe Ruth card exhibits a spot of paper loss and a couple of spots of glue residue, while the Ruth on the cover displays considerable paper loss. Some red paper from the inside cover has adhered to the Lou Gehrig card. The unusual dimensions and high-quality photographs used to produce these cards make them among the most distinctive of all 1920s issues. This is a rarely-offered near complete set of this classic late 1920s issue, which includes a particularly high concentration of Hall of Famers, and highlighted by two cards of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Total: 97 cards (near-set of 96 plus one duplicate). Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
