Graded VG 40 by SGC. Very attractive example of Babe Ruth's E121 American Caramel card. One of several different cards of Ruth in the E121 set, this is one of the all-time classic Babe Ruth cards of the 1920s. Referred to on checklists as the Babe Ruth "Holding Ball" variation, this popular card features Ruth in a two-thirds length pose donning his New York Yankees cap and holding a baseball. Crisp and clean, with even wear to the four corners and centering slightly toward the upper left. Wear to the left edge and light wrinkles across the left-side corners are responsible for the assigned grade. The reverse is boldly printed and clean, with even, natural toning. This is a tremendous and very presentable example of this classic Babe Ruth card, which would be a worthy addition to any high-quality Babe Ruth or prewar-card collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
