Extremely rare collection of four different tobacco cards, including Hall of Famer Eddie Collins, from the 1914 Kotton Tobacco set, all graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA). Produced by the People's Tobacco Co. of New Orleans, the Kotton Tobacco series was regionally issued only in the Louisiana area. The Kotton Tobacco set shares designs with several other closely related caramel and bakery issues (E90-1 American Caramel Company, E92 Dockman & Sons, etc.) from the same era. The collection consists of the following: Donie Bush (VG/EX 50, 1 of 1, highest graded), Eddie Collins/Phila. Am. variation (SGC Authentic, slightly trimmed, otherwise Vg), Otto Knabe/Baltimore variation (VG 40, 1 of 1, highest graded), and Oscar Stanage (VG 40, 1 of 2, one higher). Each card is bright, crisp, and clean, with bold colors, flawless registration, even wear on the corners, and a clean reverse. This extremely attractive group of 1914 tobacco-card rarities, featuring Hall of Famer Eddie Collins, would make an outstanding addition to any prewar or sample-card collection. Total: 4 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate (open).
