Graded VG 40 by SGC. Extremely rare sample card of 1910-1912 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 1) featuring Russ Ford of the New York Highlanders. T215 Red Cross is one of tobacco-card collecting's most overlooked issues. Very similar in design to and borrowing images from the T206 set, T215 Red Cross cards are believed to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area. The cards measure 1-1/2 x 2-5/8 inches, which is the standard size for tobacco issues. This example is bright and clean, with vibrant colors, excellent centering, a pair of light wrinkles, and even rounding to the corners. The reverse displays a light moisture stain, is centered to the left (when held horizontally as intended), and is boldly printed, an ideal quality for a sample of this scarce issue. This is a very attractive mid-grade sample from one of tobacco-card collecting's rarest sets. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
