One of only three examples (at any grade) evaluated by PSA or SGC to date! Extremely rare sample card of 1912-1913 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 2), featuring key Hall of Famer Ty Cobb of the Detroit Tigers. T215 Red Cross is one of tobacco-card collecting's most overlooked issues. Very similar in design and borrowing images from the T206 set, T215 Red Cross cards are believed to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area. The cards measure 1-1/2 x 2-5/8 inches, which is the standard size for tobacco issues. The offered T215 (Type 2) of Cobb shares the same image with his classic bat-off-shoulder T206 card. The offered example exhibits bold colors, flawless registration, and near-perfect centering. Graded FR 1.5, this example exhibits multiple creases, corner rounding and a small abrasion on the right border. The boldly printed Red Cross reverse shows evidence of scrapbook removal, with a bit of extra paper and a few small spots of paper loss. This is a very desirable example of one of the most elusive of all Ty Cobb cards, from one of tobacco-card collecting's rarest sets. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++.
