The 1915 T214 Victory set is an obscure series of tobacco cards, issued exclusively in the Louisiana area, which is sometimes mistaken for the T206 White Border set. Victory Tobacco is one of the few sets which feature players from the Federal League, in addition to featuring players from the National and American Leagues. Offered is a rare sample card of Ray Demmitt from the Chicago White Sox. Victory Tobacco cards have a glossy coated surface which is very susceptible to creasing; that common problem and a small area of paper loss on the reverse are responsible for this card being graded POOR 10 by SGC. The card presents extremely well, with bold colors, outstanding centering, and a crisp image, despite its technically accurate assigned grade. This is a tremendous rarity that would be a significant addition to any T214 Victory Tobacco, advanced prewar, or type-card collection. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
