Graded EX 5 by PSA. This the ONLY example graded at this level with just one higher! Outstanding example of Hall of Famer John Clarkson (ball near waist pose) from the popular N284 Buchner Gold Coin series. The card displays light wear on the corners, brilliant colors, flawless registration, and centered slightly to the top. The reverse has a few tobacco stains. Buchners are unusual in that they feature generic illustrations of the ballplayers rather than the actual likeness of the identified player. This is a very attractive Hall of Famer example from the Buchner Gold Coin tobacco set, one of the few full-color baseball-card sets of the nineteenth century, and one of the most artistically interesting, distinctive, and classic baseball-card sets of the 1880s. Reserve $300. Estimate 500+.
