Graded EX 60 by SGC. Striking example of Hall of Famer Mike “King” Kelly (catcher pose) from the popular N284 Buchner Gold Coin set. Buchners are unusual in that they feature generic illustrations of the ballplayers rather than the actual likeness of the identified player. Bright and crisp with a flawless image, vibrant colors, light wear on the corners, and centered to the bottom right. The reverse is clean with boldly printed black text. This is an extremely attractive Hall of Famer example from the Buchner Gold Coin tobacco set, one of the few full-color baseball-card sets of the nineteenth century, and one of the most artistically interesting, distinctive, and classic baseball-card sets of the 1880s.  Reserve $300. Estimate 500+.
