Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Extremely attractive N284 Buchner Gold Coin of Hall of Famer Dan Brouthers (with bat pose). Bright and crisp with a flawless image, vibrant colors, light wear on the corners, and centered to the top left. Boldly printed blue text and light tobacco stains on the reverse. Buchners are unusual in that they feature generic illustrations of the ballplayers rather than the actual likeness of the identified player. This is a very presentable example of this Hall of Famer from the Buchner Gold Coin tobacco set, one of the few full-color baseball-card sets of the nineteenth century, and one of the most artistically interesting, distinctive, and classic baseball-card sets of the 1880s. Reserve $300. Estimate 500+.
