Graded GOOD 30 by SGC (submitted by REA). Presented is an extremely attractive 1888 N173 Old Judge cabinet card of Frank Dwyer with Chicago, posed (#396-2) in front of an elaborate studio backdrop. This card is part of an exciting, fresh-to-the-hobby find of fifteen N173s, including five Hall of Famers and two Dogs Head cards, discovered by a non-collector in Maine among the possessions of his grandfather, all consigned to this auction. Stunning example, with flawless contrast and tremendous detail. Extraordinarily bold and crisp. The upper-left corner has a crease, the lower-right edge has an indentation, and a few scattered ink marks on the front, all of which are responsible for the modest grade. This is an outstanding sample from one of the most revered and substantial of all nineteenth-century baseball-card issues. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
