Presented is an extremely attractive 1887 N173 Old Judge cabinet card of Tom Brown with Boston (pose #44-2). This card is part of an exciting, fresh-to-the-hobby find of fifteen N173s, including five Hall of Famers and two Dogs Head cards, discovered by a non-collector in Maine among the possessions of his grandfather, all consigned to this auction. Stunning example, with flawless contrast and tremendous detail. Extraordinarily bold and crisp. Several scattered stains on the front and back are responsible for the modest grade. This is an outstanding sample from one of the most revered and substantial of all nineteenth-century baseball-card issues. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
