Graded EX 5 by PSA. The 1914 Cracker Jack is understandably one of Walter Johnson's most desirable and popular cards. This is a gorgeous example of this card in high grade for any 1914 Cracker Jack (as opposed to 1915), let alone for a key Hall of Famer. The 1914 Cracker Jacks are far rarer to find in high grade than their 1915 counterparts, because the 1914 #144 series cards were only issued in boxes of Cracker Jack (and therefore almost always have condition problems, including caramel staining). Johnson, of course, is one of the significant key cards in the set, along with Cobb, Jackson, Wagner, and Mathewson. This is particularly strong card in all respects. The card is well centered, with outstanding color, perfect registration, an extremely bold red background, and strong corners that display very light, even wear. Bright and clean, both front and back, with a bit of caramel staining visible mainly on the reverse. In our opinion, this card would not look out of place in a higher-graded holder! A superb example that would be a highlight addition to any world-class collection of Cracker Jack, Walter Johnson, or vintage Hall of Fame cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+.
