Graded GOOD+ 35 by SGC. This outstanding sample card of Babe Adams from the extremely rare E104-2 Nadja Caramels series features a classic portrait image. E104-2 Nadja Caramels are among the rarest of all twentieth-century caramel issues. Produced to commemorate the Pirates’ 1909 Championship season, the 11-card set features exclusively Pittsburgh Pirates. The card is bright and clean, with a deep red background and crisp perfect image, no creases, four strong corners, and excellent centering. Presenting as Excellent from the front, two tiny spots of paper loss and some very light glue residue on the blank-backed reverse account for the technically accurate assigned grade. The E104-2 Nadja Caramels set is very closely related to the E90-2 American Caramel Pirates set. A very desirable sample card from this rare, early twentieth-century candy issue, worthy of any E104-2 set, “E” card, or prewar-card collection. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
