This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher! 1888 N173 Goodwin Old Judge cabinet card of Hall of Famer "Old Hoss" Radbourn with Boston (pose #377-5). This card is part of an exciting, fresh-to-the-hobby find of fifteen N173s, including five Hall of Famers and two Dogs Head cards, discovered by a non-collector in Maine among the possessions of his grandfather, all consigned to this auction. This is a stunning Hall of Fame example from one of the nineteenth century's most revered sets. Extraordinary example with superb photo quality, no creases, light corner wear on the upper left and lower right, and five tiny insignificant spots of surface wear in the background mostly to the left of Radbourn’s image (mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy). The reverse is perfectly clean, free of any writing or paper loss commonly found on nineteenth-century cards. All Old Judge cabinets are extremely desirable, especially Hall of Famers, and “Old Hoss” Radbourn, of course, is one of the most prominent of all nineteenth-century Hall of Famers. An exceptional example of one of the most highly prized Hall of Famers in the N173 Old Judge set. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000+.
