Presented is an extremely attractive T206 White Border example of Detroit Tigers Hall of Famer Ty Cobb (portrait, red background) featuring a desirable Piedmont "Factory 42" designation on the reverse. The T206 portrait of Ty Cobb set against a brilliant red background is considered by many collectors to be his single most classic card. It is one of the most recognizable and popular of all vintage baseball cards. Do not be fooled by the modest assigned grade of PR 1 by PSA! This card is a gem! It features bold colors, near-perfect centering, a crisp image, and strong corners. Scattered spots of surface paper loss, including in the nameplate area, are responsible for the grade. The advertisement on the back is centered to the right, with a boldly printed important factory line. This is a very attractive example of one of the T206 set's most iconic cards featuring this very scarce advertising back, ranked as the twelfth most difficult (out of thirty-nine) within the set by T206Resource.com. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
