Presented is a high-grade collection of forty-four (thirty-nine different and five duplicates) 1967 Leaf "Star Trek" cards, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. A total of seventy-two cards comprise a complete set. Leaf made one of the worst business moves in its history by going ahead with the production of its 1967 "Star Trek" set. The entire first print run was wrapped, boxed, and cased before Leaf discovered that they were not going to receive the proper licensing approvals to release the set. They had no alternative other than to destroy the entire inventory. As all collectors are aware, some cases were distributed, although only a few. This is widely recognized to be one of the rarest and most desirable of all 1960s card sets. As the first of the many "Star Trek" card sets to come, it is now considered a classic. This collection consists of the following: One NM-MT 8: #31 (ST). Thirty-five NM 7: #5, 8, 11, 13, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, two 24 (one qualified [ST]), 25, 27, 28, 33, 34, 35, 40, 43, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 52, 54, 56, 57, 58, 61, 63, 65, two 68, and 69. Six EX-MT 6: #17, 41, 45, 51, 55, and 67. Two EX 5: #40 and 49. One of the most popular of all 1960s nonsport issues. Star Trek is one of the few television shows of the 1960s to survive with its popularity intact (and, if anything, even greater) to this day. Total: 44 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
