Collection of eighty different Dixie Lid nonsport premiums issued in the 1940s, representing four different series, and all related to the military. These full-color large-format premiums feature beautiful artwork and rich color, making them one of the most striking and distinctive of all 1940s nonsport issues. Each premium was designed with two holes along the left edge for easy binding in a scrapbook. The reverse of each 8 x 10-inch premium features black-and-white stills of various wartime scenes along with a few short paragraphs about the military scene. The experiences of the military have long been a very popular subject for cards. These classic sets are rarely seen in the form of a collection. These sets are naturally popular with nonsport card collectors, and also appeal very much to general collectors of military related items. The sets have been beautifully preserved for decades. The collection consists of the following: 1) 1941 F6-1 "Defend America" Near-Complete set (23/26): Missing only the front and back covers and the Bombardment Planes premium for completion. Condition is: two Nr/Mt, eleven Ex to Ex-Mt, nine Vg to Vg-Ex, and one Fr. 2) 1942 F6-2 "America's Fighting Forces" Complete Set (26): Condition is: four Nr/Mt, eight Ex to Ex-Mt, thirteen Vg to Vg-Ex, and one lesser. 3) 1942 F6-3 "America Attacks" Near-Complete Set (25/26): Missing only the back cover for completion. Condition is: five Ex to Ex-Mt, thirteen Vg to Vg-Ex, and seven lesser. 4) 1944-1945 F6-4 "United Nations at War" (6 premiums): Condition is: four Vg to Vg-Ex, one Pr-Fr, and one altered. This is a fascinating advanced collection of this interesting genre. These military-related premiums were assembled over a span of many years by a longtime advanced collector. Total: 80 premiums.
