Presented is an extremely attractive ultra-high-grade complete set of the 1952 Exhibits "Slick Chick Twins" pinups series, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA. The complete set is No. 2 on the PSA Set Registry with an overall GPA of 5.52. One of several issues produced during the 1940s and 1950s featuring pinup girls on colorfully illustrated cards, the "Slick Chick Twins" set, with artwork provided by the Louis F. Dow Company for the Exhibit Supply Company, is among the most difficult and is rarely offered as a complete set. Each card features two pinup girls on front, each illustrated in their own scene with a corresponding witty title. The backs are blank. Each card measures approximately 3.25 x 5.25 inches. PSA Grading Composite: Two NM 7: Spilled Lumber/Catchy Number and The Round-Up/Mary Go Round. Two EX-MT+ 6.5: Cute Pair/Putting One Over and Threadbare/Neat Trick. Eleven EX-MT 6: A-Peeling/Exposed, Blind Date/Latin From Manhattan, Brush Off/Air Conditioning, Breaking Ties/All Wet, Caught Short/Doggy Affair, Corralled Beauty/Booked For Tonight, Rare Form/Clean Sweep, Slick Trick/Knit Wit, Tele-Whirl/Model Artist, Tempting Morsel/In A Lather, and Trim Limbs/Catching On. Six EX+ 5.5: Housing Problem/Barrelly Covered, Smart Set/Lucky Dog, The Last Draw/Hang It All, Thin Ice/Smooth Sailing, Up In The Air/Cover-All Beauty, and Upswept/Tapering Off. Nine EX 5: A Wicket Player/Rain Capers, Fowl Play/Honey Combed (MC), Fresh Lobster/Crash Landing, Hang Over/Eye For Beauty, Hooping It Up/Room For Two, Limbering Up/Adam's Apple, Pace Setter/Snow Fun, Reel Evidence/De-Icer, and Well Equipped/Skin Deep. One VG-EX 4: Dog Tired/Tenderfoot. One VG+ 3.5: Hot Dog/A-Luring. Six of these cards are the highest graded examples in the PSA Population Report. As a point of reference, the last complete set we sold, which was not graded, appeared as Lot 1733 in our April 2014 auction, where it realized $10,655. This is a remarkably ultra-high-grade complete set of this rare 1950s pinup series worthy of the finest nonsport-card collection. Total: 32 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
