Circa 1910 advertising sign issued in promotion of Sweet Caporal Cigarettes, housed in its original wooden frame. The colorful image pictures the portrait image of beautiful band majorette as it appears by magic from the smoke of a Sweet Caporal Cigarette. A tiny, winged majorette, pictured in the lower right, gazes up adoringly at the image brought forth. The caption reads "Sweet Caporal Cigarettes - For 40 Years Purest form in which Tobacco can be smoked." An illustrated package of Sweet Caporal Cigarettes is pictured near the base. The original wood frame echoes the advertising and bears the engraved lettering "Sweet Caporal Cigarettes" along the bottom front border. The sign (18 x 34 inches), which is printed on thick cardboard stock, displays moderate-to-heavy surface wear, including a few abrasions near the top border and a water stain (approximately 3 x 7 inches) in the lower left corner. In Very Good condition overall. The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be a shipping charge for this lot (which will vary depending upon where it is being shipped). The shipping charge will be billed separately from the auction invoice. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
