Complete set of twenty-five cards from the 1888 N124 Duke "Presidential Possibilities" series. This is a very strong complete set of these extremely striking nineteenth-century tobacco cards. The N124 set is one of the most popular and desirable of all nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card sets. Issued with Duke's Cigarettes, each card measures 2-9/16 x 4-1/8 inches and features color portraits of the various statesmen considered to be potential candidates for the presidency in 1888 on the front with a checklist presented on the reverse. Condition is three Ex, one Vg-Ex, eight Vg, three Gd, eight Fr, and two Pr. Two cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA: Gorman (GOOD 2) and Gray (VG 3 [MK]). This is an extremely attractive set with outstanding eye-appeal. Duke's "Presidential Possibilities" are highly prized by both historical collectors and nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card collectors. Total: 25 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
