Rare and highly desirable Elvis Presley twice-signed photo dating from the dawn of his professional career. What makes this piece so significant, aside from its early nature and the fact that Presley has signed it on both the front and reverse, is that it also includes the signatures of Presley's original band members: Scotty Moore, Jimmy Day, Don Fontana, and Bill Black. The black-and-white publicity photo features a studio portrait of Elvis, with the preprinted text along the base reading "Elvis Presley 160 Union Ave, Memphis, Tenn." Elvis has inscribed the front of the photo in the lower-right corner, "Love you/Elvis Presley," with both the text and signature grading "7/8." Presley has also signed the back of the photo, "Elvis Presley," in black ink ("8"). (For reason's unknown, it was common for Elvis to sign both the front and back of these publicity photos during his early tours.) Also located on the reverse are the blue-ink signatures ("8" on average) of Jimmy Day, Don Fontana, Bill Black, and Scotty Moore, who has preceded his signature with the salutation "Best of Luck." Both Moore and Black were witness to history when they agreed to play backup for Elvis during his first recording sessions at Sun Studios in July 1954. Later, in 1955, Jimmy Day and D. J. Fontana joined Elvis' group. In 1956, when Elvis moved to Hollywood, Day left to pursue a career with the Grand Ole Opry, but Moore, Black, and Fontana remained with Elvis until September 1957. This is one of the finest Elvis Presley signed photos we have ever seen, let alone offered, made all the more desirable for the inclusion of his original band-member signatures on the reverse. The photo (8 x 10 inches) displays a number of light-to-moderate creases throughout, including a large diagonal crease that runs from the left border down through Elvis' image, as well as a few small areas of light discoloration on the reverse. In Very Good condition overall. Full LOA from Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication and Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
