Bat and ball signed by Donald Trump, forty-fifth President of the United States. Trump has signed the Wade Boggs signature-model commemorative bat in blue Sharpie (grading "9") on the sweet spot of the barrel. Above his signature Trump added the printed personalization "To Bill/Great Show." The official American League (Brown) ball is signed in similar fashion in blue ink ("10") across the sweet spot (extending into both adjacent side panels). The "Bill" to whom this bat and ball are addressed is our consignor. He was the promoter of the 1961 New York Yankees reunion show, which was held at Trump Castle in Atlantic City from May 11 through May 13 in 1990. Trump was personally involved with the show and the lot includes a photo of Trump posing together with all of the former Yankees, including Mantle and Berra, that was taken at the conclusion of the event. Given the inscription, Trump was obviously pleased with the results of the show. At the time, little did our consignor (or anyone for that matter) know to what heights the celebrity real-estate mogul would eventually rise. The bat (34 inches) remains in Mint condition. The ball displays scattered age toning and is otherwise in Near Mint condition. Total: 2 items (ball and bat). Individual full LOAs for both the bat and ball from Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication. Please Note: JSA declined to provide an LOA for this lot. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
