Personal check, dated May 26, 1944, signed by Alan Shepard (1923-1998) American astronaut and one of twelve men to have walked on the moon. The check, drawn on the First National Bank of Derry, New Hampshire, is made out to the “Peerless Uniform Co.” in the amount of $49.84. It has been signed “AB Shepard Jr.” in black fountain pen (grading “9”). Shepard was born in Derry, New Hampshire, and this check was written just eleven days prior to his graduation from Annapolis on June 6th. In 1971, as the Commander of Apollo 14, he became the fifth man to walk on the moon. The check (6.25 x 2.75 inches) displays normal bank cancellation stamps and holes, some of which touch upon Shepard’s signature. In Excellent to Mint condition overall.
