Dating from World War II, this unusual pennant commemorates the one-year pairing of the Steelers and Cardinals franchises, which were forced to merge rosters in 1944 in order to address the loss of players to military service. The rare black-felt pennant features a generic football player to the left, with the team name and year, "Steelers Cardinals 1944" lettered in gold to the right. This is one of only a few examples we have seen of this particular pennant and the first we have offered. The pennant (29.25 inches in length) displays a staple hole along the right border and remains in spectacular Excellent to Mint condition. An exceptionally fine example of this highly prized rarity. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
