This circa early 1900s Spalding retail box once housed the company's "Association Football No. 9A." The blue-paper label on the lid features two Spalding logos and the text "Spalding Association Football." The blue-paper labels on each of the two exterior end panels are similar in design and include the model number: "No. 9A." Included in the box are the original paper sleeve that once housed the bladder (Gd), an instruction slip on how to lace the ball (Ex-Mt), a small, blank envelope (Ex), and a metal lacing tool (oxidized; otherwise Ex-Mt). The box (12 x 6.25 x 3 inches) displays heavy wear, including numerous small tears and abrasions, light staining, and splits along the seams of the lid that have been repaired with tape on the interior. In Good condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
