Collection of three lobby cards from the 1926 silent film One Minute to Play
, starring legendary gridiron star Red Grange. Like all paper from 1920s silent films, these lobby cards are exceedingly rare and represent the only examples we have seen from the film. Each card is identical in design and features the film's title in the upper left corner, a large colorized scene in the center, and Grange's name and image in the lower right corner. Each of the central scene images pictures Grange, including one in which he is dressed in his football uniform. The plot of the film involves Grange as college football star who has to decided whether to play in the "big" game against his father's wishes. One Minute to Play
is a "lost" film, with no surviving prints, making these lobby cards perhaps the only tangible reminders of Grange's first appearance on the silver screen. (We have seen no other paper from this film.) Each lobby card (14 x 11 inches) is in Poor condition overall, with numerous flaws, including heavy staining, large tears, and pencil notations (one one of the cards). Total: 3 lobby cards. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
