Extremely rare pair of 1912 Boston Red Sox Postcards issued by one of Boston's newspapers, to commemorate members of the World Championship Red Sox team. The offered pair consists of two different styles: 1) 1912 Boston American Series Postcard Jake Stahl (SGC GOOD+ 35). The postcard features a beautiful sepia-toned image of Stahl wearing his Red Sox sweater set against a dark brown background. Below his image, he is identified as “Red Sox Manager” and “Boston American Series” is printed in the lower right. The card presents as Vg-Ex, with light wear at the corners, a small surface crease visible on the reverse, and a flawless image. Downgraded due to a couple tiny spots of paper loss on the back from album removal. The postcard reverse is clean and unused. 2) 1912 Boston Daily American Souvenir Postcard Forrest Cady. The postcard features a black-and-white portrait image of Cady. The player’s name, team, and position are printed within the image area and “Boston Daily American Souvenir” is printed in the lower left. The card grades Fair due to a tiny tear on the middle of the right edge and writing on the postcard reverse. Despite a few technical faults, these remain a very attractive pair and are ideal samples of these distinctive, desirable, and beautifully produced postcards celebrating the World Champion Boston Red Sox. Total: 2 postcards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
