Mike Schmidt Rawlings/Adirondack signature-model "154B" bat dating from the 1989 season. The bat displays evidence of heavy use along its entire length, including ball marks (with ink transfers), stitch impressions, blue/green rack marks, checking (grain swelling), and an approximate seven-inch crack in the handle. The model number ("154B"), order number ("14"), and year code ("09") are stamped on the knob. Schmidt's uniform number ("20") is written on the knob in black marker. Schmidt has signed the bat in black Sharpie (grading "9") on the barrel (directly to the right of his stamped facsimile signature). 1989 marked Schmidt's eighteenth and final season in the majors. Playing in only forty-two games, the legendary slugger finished the year with 6 home runs, 28 RBI, and a .203 average. Mike Schmidt is considered by many to be the greatest third baseman in baseball history. A member of baseball's elite 500 Home Run Club, Schmidt led the National League in home runs on eight separate occasions and was the recipient of three MVP Awards, including back-to-back honors in 1980 and 1981. Schmidt was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1995, his first year of eligibility, and in 1999 was named to Major League Baseball's All-Century Team. Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 32.8 ounces. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Pre certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+.
