Tony Gwynn hit a blistering .448 during the month of August in 1993, a period when he hit safely in all but three of the club's twenty-seven games and raise his season average from .332 to .352. Included in that offensive onslaught was his 2,000th career hit on August 6th. Offered here is Tony Gwynn's National League Player of the Month Award that was presented to him for that remarkable performance. The design of the award features a beveled crystal in the shape of a pyramid that sits upon a dark-green marble base. The official National League logo is embossed on the front of the crystal, while the plaque on the base reads "TONY GWYNN/San Diego Padres/Player of the Month/August, 1993.” This award originates directly from the Gwynn family and is accompanied by one-page signed letter of provenance from Gwynn's widow, Alicia Gwynn. The award (9.5 inches high; base: 10 x 4 inches), produced by Letts of London, displays a minuscule chip at the tip of the crystal and is otherwise in Near Mint to Mint condition. Reserve $1,000.
