Original Ron Lewis oil on board painting of Pete Rose used as one of the card images in the 1985 "P. R. E. Pete Rose Set, " issued by Renata Galasso. The image pictures Rose as a member of the Cincinnati Reds as he lashes out a hit at the plate. Signed and dated by the artist in the middle right ("Ron Lewis 85"). The 120-card "P. R. E. Pete Rose Set," which was designed and produced by Topps, chronicled Rose's career and used many former Topps card images of Rose. Additionally, a few of the cards in the set featured illustrations of baseball's all-time hit king by Ron Lewis. This is the first original Ron Lewis artwork from that issue we have ever seen and it comes with the provenance of having been consigned directly by the publisher. Ron Lewis is one of the premier sports artists of our time. In addition to his baseball pieces, Lewis has also created many other iconic works relating to the sports of football, basketball, and boxing. The painting (24.25 x 20 inches) remains in Near Mint condition.
