American League season pass issued to Mickey Mantle in 1971. The paper pass, which is labeled a "Working Pass," granted Mantle access to "All Grounds" for the 1971 season. Mantle's name is typed on the front and the facsimile signature of American League president Joe Cronin appears in the lower right corner. 4.25 x 2.75 inches. Near Mint condition. This pass was originally purchased at the special Mickey Mantle auction conducted by Guernsey's on December 8, 2003, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In commemoration of the sale, Guernsey's issued a limited number of special auction catalogs that were signed by Mantle on the cover. (Mantle had actually signed a print that was then specially inserted within the front cover; all of the signed prints were provided by the Mantle family.) Offered here together with the pass is one of those specially signed 2003 auction catalogs compete with its original slip case. Mantle's blue-Sharpie signature on the cover grades a perfect "10" and the hard-bound catalog remains in Near Mint to Mint condition. It should be noted that the special signed auction catalogs were issued in 2003 at an original cost of $650. The pass is accompanied by a COA signed by Mantle's wife and two sons. Total: 2 items (pass and signed auction catalog). Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Pre certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+.
