Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Exceptional example of Bugs Raymond from the extremely rare cabinet-card set issued in 1911 by Jones, Keyser & Arras Studios of New York City. This is the ONLY example of Raymond ever graded at any level by SGC! (A total of only thirty-four cabinets from this series, of all subjects, have been graded to date.) Little is known about exactly how this unusual and remarkably high quality set was issued. Each cabinet card (4.75 x 7.25 inches) in the set features a mounted sepia-toned photograph on the front and the studio's name and address in the lower left on the reverse. This is one of the rarest and most substantial of all prewar issues, and even finding a sample card from this set is very challenging. The offered example of Bugs Raymond has survived in exceptional condition, with a flawless photograph, heavy wear on the upper left corner, and no creasing or wrinkling to the mount. The blank reverse shows very minor chipping along the edges that are not at all visible from the front. This is a superb and extremely high-grade sample card rarity worthy of the finest collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++.
