Rare cigar box displaying a team photo of the 1951 National League Champion New York Giants on the lid. The unique design features a brown-leather exterior, with the team photo printed on an inlaid stone slab. The New York Giants team logo and year are printed on the interior of the lid. This is the first example of this cigar box we have ever seen. While there is no formal documentation accompanying the box, we have been told by the consignor that it originates from a former secretary of Giants owner Horace Stoneham, which suggests that it was presented only to team employees. If so, that would explain its great rarity today. The box (7.5 x 4.5 x 2.5) is heavily worn, with what appears to be repaired cracks in the wood and chips to the exterior leather. In Good condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
