Scarce John McGraw “Memorial Baseball Game” between the New York Giants and the Truxton Giants held at John J. McGraw Field in Truxton, New York, on August 8, 1938. The 24-page program displays a portrait image of McGraw on the cover and the pages feature a number of tributes and photos to the Hall of Fame manager, who died in 1934. Truxton was McGraw’s hometown and the town welcomed the opportunity to finally pay tribute to its favorite son with this memorial game. The preprinted lineups feature Ott, Hubbell, Bartel, and Ripple for the Giants. The program (6 x 9 inches) displays moderate foxing and a vertical fold. In Very Good condition. Accompanied by an orange silk ribbon (1 x 7 inches; Ex) with “Official” printed on the front (presumably from the game). Total: 2 items (program and ribbon).
Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
