Program issued for a regular-season National League game between the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates, held at the Polo Grounds in 1923. The preprinted lineups include Youngs, Bancroft, Frisch, Stengel, Kelly, Jackson, Meusel, and Gowdy for New York, and Carey, Traynor, Maranville, and Grimm for Pittsburgh. Not scored. The Giants were the two-time defending World Champions entering the 1923 season and they once again captured the pennant. Unfortunately, the third time proved to be the charm for their inner city rivals, the New York Yankees, who finally defeated the Giants in the World Series that fall. The eight-page program displays a vertical fold, slight separation of the covers along the spine, small edge tears, and a larger diagonal tear along the base that affects both covers and each page. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
