Early 1920s Favorites of the Diamond notebook featuring a Paul Thompson photo of Babe Ruth on the cover. The image captures Ruth at the plate as a member of the Yankees just prior to what was certain to be a brief, but explosive, union between wood and horsehide. Thompson's credit stamp appears in the lower-left corner. Given Ruth's trim waistline, this notebook almost certainly dates to the early 1920s, a time when Ruth was single handily revolutionizing the game with his prodigious home run totals. As an interesting side note, the original Type 1 Thompson photo of Ruth used to produce this cover sold at auction for $18,000 in 2010. The notebook (6 x 9 inches; .25 inches thick) is complete with all of its lined sheets and remains in extraordinary Near Mint to Mint condition, looking nearly exactly as it did when purchased some 95 years ago. Reserve $400. Estimate (open).
