Rare "accordion style" Boston Red Sox postcard dating from 1908. The postcard features three small photos on the front of John Taylor, Hugh McBreen and the Boston American League Grounds, respectively. To the left of the portraits is a circular die-cut baseball that reads "Boston Americans Red Sox." The die-cut baseball flips open to reveal twenty small individual photos (stacked accordion style) of the Boston Red Sox team members. Included among the players pictured are Cy Young, Ed Cicotte, Bill Carrigan, Manager Deacon McGuire, and Jake Stahl. The postcard (5.5 x 3.5 inches), which is postmarked September 10, 1908, displays minor surface wear, but the fragile interior accordion photos remain in Near-Mint condition. Postally used, with the sender's initials and date (9/10/08) also written along the base of the front cover. In Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $500++.
