Two regular-season Major League programs dating, respectively, from 1914 and 1917. 1) 1914 New York Yankees program (6.75 x 10.25 inches) issued for a game against the Cleveland Naps at the Polo Grounds. The preprinted lineups include Roger Peckinpaugh for New York, and Joe Jackson, Nap Lajoie, Ray Chapman, and Bill Wambsganss for Cleveland. Not scored. 8 pages. The front cover is detached and the back cover is missing. Poor to Fair condition. 2) 1917 Boston Red Sox program (6.75 x 10 inches) issued for a game against the New York Yankees. (Although the cover reads “Boston National League Braves Field Season 1917,” the score sheets are printed for a game between the Red Sox and Yankees.) The preprinted lineups include Harry Hooper, Jack Barry, Dick Hoblitzell, and Herb Pennock for Boston, and Frank Backer, Roger Peckinpaugh, Wally Pipp, and Bob Shawkey for New York. Babe Ruth is listed among the substitutes for Boston along the top of the team’s score sheet. Neatly scored in ink to record a 4-1 New York win. Research indicates that this game was the second game of a doubleheader that took place on September 3rd at Fenway Park. 8 pages. Both covers are partially separated from the spine and the program displays a vertical fold. In Very Good condition. Total: 2 programs. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
