Joe Jackson full-size J. F. Hillerich & Son Co., decal bat, model "40 J. J," dating from the 1911-1916 manufacturing period. The decal features a portrait of Jackson, framed on either side by the words "Louisville" and "Slugger," below which is Jackson's facsimile signature. The decal is approximately 80% complete and displays wear, including abrasions and minor fissures due to grain separation. Overall, the decal grades "4/5." The bat (34 inches) displays heavy wear, including deadwood, which is indicative of former use. The letters "B & O R R" (Baltimore and Ohio Railroad) are stamped on the back of the barrel, which suggests that this bat was used for recreational purposes by railroad employees or by the company team. In Good condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
