Collection of seven original snapshot photos of Braves Field, circa 1920. These photos, which presumably were all taken on the same day, capture both exterior and interior views of the stadium. Five photos are street views, all of which picture a large throng of fans as they make their way into the ballpark. One of the remaining two photos pictures fans in the grandstand, while the other captures the Braves taking batting practice prior to a game against the Philadelphia Athletics (as noted by the scoreboard). Braves Field opened on August 18, 1915, and remained the home ballpark until the team moved to Milwaukee in 1953. The large number of fans pictured would suggest these photos were taken on opening day. Philadelphia was Boston’s home opening-day opponent in both 1918 and 1922, and the photos may date from one of those two years. All of the photos (5.5 x 3.5 inches) displays light-to-moderate handling wear and are in Excellent condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
