Photo capturing Walter Johnson warming up on the sidelines, circa 1909. Certified as an original Type 1 photograph by PSA/DNA. The photographer's credit, "G. V. Buck/1112 F. St./Washington, D.C," is embossed in the lower right corner. This is an early image of Johnson and one that may be familiar to collectors because it was featured in the Ken Burns documentary Baseball. It also is the same image that appears on Johnson's 1911 Baseball Bats card. Based upon the uniform style shown, it appears to have been taken during the 1909 season, which was Johnson's second full season in the majors. The photo (3.5 x 4.5 inches) displays a moderate diagonal crease in both the upper left and lower right corners, neither of which affects Johnson's image. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
