Rare oversized Chicago White Sox pennant dating to circa 1910. The colorful graphics feature a White Sox player stretching to catch a ball, which can be seen in mid flight to the player's right. The team name, "White Sox," appears in large white letters to the right of the illustration. This is the first example of this attractive pennant we have ever handled, and we can only recall having seen one or two others at auction in the past fifteen years. The green-felt pennant (36 inches in length) is missing its tassels and white cloth strip along the left border. Heavy wear is displayed throughout, including a number of tears along the left border and moderate crazing to the painted letters. In Good condition overall, but it presents at a higher level than its technically accurate grade would suggest. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
