Two nineteenth-century baseballs, each of which displays a figure-eight stitch pattern. The first is a green-stitched ball that appears to be homemade given the slightly uneven spacing between the stitches. 9 inches in circumference. 4.6 ounces. Heavily worn, with stains and numerous surface abrasions, but all of the stitching remains intact. The second ball incorporates an unusually wide spacing between the stitches, with the thread barely visible. 9.25 inches in circumference. 5.2 ounces. Heavy wear, with hardened leather, abrasions, small tears, and some loss of stitching. Total: 2 balls. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
