Scarce trade card, issued by the J. E. Stevens Co., of Cromwell, Connecticut, in promotion of the company's "Dark Town Battery" mechanical baseball bank. The card pictures an image of the bank, while the text below provides the dimensions and describes the movements: "Place a coin in the hand of the pitcher, press the lever, and the coin is swiftly pitched. As the batter misses, it is safely deposited by the catcher. The movements of all the figures are very life like. Nicely finished in fancy colors." The card (3 x 5.5 inches) displays moderate surface wear, including light staining in the upper right quadrant, that does not significantly detract from its overall Excellent appearance. Encapsulated "Authentic" by SGC. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
