Rare nineteenth-century baseball figural piece mounted upon a circular wood base. The pewter statue depicts a mustached baseball player in period uniform, including hat and belt. A bat is held in his right hand and a ball in the other. No artist or manufacturer listed. This is the only example of this particular baseball figure we have ever seen. The piece was originally painted in bronze, with portions of the bronze paint still evident. Wear is commensurate with its age, including a number of blemishes to the wooden base. In Excellent condition overall. Height: 10.5 inches. Base diameter: 5 inches.
