In 1990 our consignor promoted a signing show at Trump Castle in Atlantic City, New Jersey, that reunited thirty-two members of the 1961 World Champion New York Yankees. In conjunction with the event, artist Ron Lewis produced a special poster picturing the club, as well as a limited-edition set of "fine-art" cards (42 cards in the set, all but one of which feature an image of the player on the front and biographical information on the reverse; the remaining card in the set pictures the entire club). This collection is composed of signed examples of both the poster and card set, as well as a signed ball, all of which were obtained at the show in 1990. The poster, card set, and ball are all signed by the same thirty-two team members that attended the show: Mantle, Berra, Ford, Arroyo, Blanchard, Boyer, Cerv, Clevenger, Coates, Daley, DeMaestri, Ditmar, Downing, Duren, Gardner, Gonder, Hale, Houk (Mgr.), James, Lopez, McDevitt, Reed, Reniff, Richardson, Sain (coach), Sheldon, Skowron, Stafford, Terry, Torgeson, Turley, and Tresh. The nine missing signatures (four of whom died prior to the show and were impossible to obtain; three others have died since the show) are those of Tony Kubek, Deron Johnson (died 1992), Lee Thomas, Roger Maris (died 1985), Elston Howard (died 1980), Duke Maas (died 1976), coach Jim Hegan (1984), coach Frank Crosetti (died 2002), and coach Wally Moses (died 1990). The poster (37.25 x 24 inches) has been signed by each player in blue marker atop his respective image; however, eleven of the signatures (Gonder, Coates, Duren, Arroyo, DeMaestri, Turley, James, Clevenger, Stafford, Sain, and Richardson) have faded over time and range from "1" to "3." The remaining signatures range from "6" to "10," averaging "8/9." Also signed by Ron Lewis in blue marker in the lower right corner. The poster is heavily rippled, with a number of light creases, and is in Very Good condition. All of the cards in the set have been boldly signed along the base in blue Sharpie, with the signatures grading "9" or "10." Each card (3.5 x 5.5 inches) remains in Near Mint condition and the set is housed in its original box. The official American League (cronin) ball has been signed in blue ink, with the exception of Blanchard (blue marker). The signatures are all fairly uniform in grade, averaging "9/10." The ball displays scattere, moderate, age toning and is otherwise in Near Mint condition. Total: 3 items (poster, card set, and ball). Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Pre certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication. Please note: the poster will be shipped rolled. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+
