Graded VG 40 by SGC. Presented is an extremely attractive 1906 Ullman Postcard example of Hall of Fame pitcher Joe McGinnity. It is interesting to note that McGinnity is identified in the nameplate on this card as “Iron Arm” instead of his well-known nickname “Iron Man.” This set of postcards is noteworthy both for its exciting design and great rarity. Produced to commemorate the Giants’ 1905 Championship season, the set features Giants players exclusively. McGinnity, of course, is one of the key Hall of Famers in the set. The fronts feature black-and-white images surrounded by a wood-grain designed border. The postcard displays a crisp image, even wear to the corners, a few creases, and light spots of age toning in the background of image. The reverse has several spots of age toning. The card has never been mailed and has no writing on its traditional postcard reverse. This is one of the all-time great McGinnity cards, and the first example we have ever offered. An outstanding sample of Hall of Famer Joe McGinnity from this very rare issue, which would be a significant addition to any postcard, New York Giants, or prewar-card collection. Reserve $300.
