Collection of four Topps baseball-card contracts and two related Topps checks spanning the years 1956 to 1973. All of the one-page typed contracts, on Topps letterhead, are extensions of each player's existing baseball-card contracts with Topps. The highlight of the group is a Willie Mays contract, dated "3/34/64 " signed in blue ink (grading "9/10") by both Mays and Sy Berger ("The Father of the Bubble-Gum Card"). The remaining three contracts are as follows: 1) Walt Alston. Dated 8/29/61; signed in blue ink ("7") by Alston (no Topps executive signature). 2) Frank Robinson. Dated 2/26/69; signed in blue ink ("10") by Robinson and a Topps executive. 3) Pete Rose. Dated 3/7/73; signed in blue marker ("10") by Rose and in blue ink by a Topps executive. All of the contracts measure 8.5 x 11 inches and are in Excellent condition overall. Also included are two Topps checks: 1) Issued to Frank Robinson in the amount of $115, dated 6/21/56, endorsed by Robinson in blue ink ("10") on the reverse. 9.25 x 3.75 inches. 2) Issued to Walt Alston in the amount of $125, dated 5/17/61, endorsed by Alston in blue ink ("10") on the reverse. 8.5 x 3.25 inches. Each check displays normal bank cancellation stamps and/or holes, as well as a few vertical folds. Vg-Ex overall. Total: 6 items (4 contracts and 2 checks). Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
