Official American League (Harridge) ball signed in either blue or black ink by thirteen baseball players, including 6 Hall of Famers, plus former heavyweight boxing champion "Jersey Joe" Walcott. The 14 signers are as follows: Joe DiMaggio (sweet spot), Hank Greenberg (sweet spot), Rabbit Maranville, Frank Frisch, Bill Dickey, Carl Hubbell, Buddy Hassett, G. Davis ("Kiddo" Davis), Red Murray, Harry Danning, Fresco Thompson, Oscar Vitt, Frank McCormick, and "Jersey Joe" Walcott. Signatures range from "6" to "9," averaging "8." This ball dates from the 1951-1959 manufacturing period, but the signatures must have been obtained prior to 1958, because that is the year Red Murray died. Given the fact that all of the baseball players represented here were retired at the time it was signed, the ball most likely originates from an Old Timers' Day event or sports banquet. In Excellent condition overall, with light toning. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Pre certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
